Nanergy, Inc. utilizes thin-film technology in its PV modules and products. a-Si is a thin film substrate laminated between two sheets of glass. This double laminate structure, the PV module, has 40 watts of power under standard test conditions (STC). Its dimentions are 0.28 in/0.7 cm thick, 49 in/124.5 cm long and 24 in/63.5 cm wide. The modules are mounted at the back with the attached mounting brackets (4 pcs).
The modules do not have frames reducing the weight and allowing the module to act in a frameless state, free of trapped water and dirt. The weight of each module is 27.0 lbs/12.25 kg.
The a-Si PV modules are naturally 4% transparent. This transparency can be increased and new transparency patterns can be created (dots, chekered pattern...). Please visit the Architects page and the Buildings page to learn more.
a-Si modules have a smaller temperature coefficient than crystalline silicon modules allowing the modules to provide better performance in hot climates or on hot roofs in the summer. a-Si modules are also more efficient in less than full light conditions, generating electricity even at less than optimal lighting conditions.
The PV module warranty is 20 years for 80% of the output.
UL and European certification is currently pending. However, Nanergy is able to source UL and TUV rated modules through its related companies.
